Magnet Sales have now standardised ten Sintered Samarium Cobalt grades in SmCo5 and Sm2Co17 due to increased demand for high energy materials operating in harsh and challenging environments. Samarium Cobalt materials offer stability under high temperatures and its excellent corrosion resistance enables applications such as drives and motors to operate successfully in critical areas of Marine application, Oil and Gas, Aerospace, Medical and Vacuum Industries.
A free Samarium Cobalt (SmCo) Magnet Material data booklet download is available here.

The cost of Rare Earth magnet material such as Neodymium, Boron, Cobalt and Samarium has seen dramatic increases in cost, with prices rising by 40% over the previous 4 months.
Although not particularly rare, these raw materials are in short supply because of world demand. Coupled with rising energy costs, this means that finished magnet prices are seeing a 20-30% increase and prices can only be fixed over short periods.
New engery levels reached with fully dense NdFeB magnets. For the first time under laboratory conditions 59.5 MGOe has been reached out of theoretical maximum of 63 MGOe
High Powered rubber faced picture hooks have been added to the Magnet Sales range of office related products.

For all office related magnets see our Office magnet page.
Magnet Sales have added to their extensive range of holding magnets a shallow NdFeB pot magnet, which provides a holding force of 6.5kgs from a maget that is only D16xT4.5mm. It also has a counter sunk hole on the active face to take a non-ferrous M3 screw.
For further details see our page on Shallow pot holding magnets
Also available a small NdFeB ring with counter sunk hole - see NdFeB rings
MSS is proud to include Renault F1 as one of their customers and wishes to congratulate them on a second consecutive winning season.
With a worldwide reputation for the manufacture and supply of
temperature profiling and analysis systems for use in industrial
heat treating processes, Datapaq has chosen Micromag to mount
thermocouples onto automotive panels.
Micromag has been specifically designed and manufactured for
Datapaq to ensure precise temperature profiling.
Magnet Sales is pleased to announce the award of a major contract
for its magnetic wheels. The wheels will be used on a robotic
crawler designed for the non-destructive testing of ship hulls.
"We are particularly pleased with this contract." says
Andy Purvis, Managing Director at Magnet Sales. "This is
our first opportunity to sell into the Greek marketplace and
we were delighted to win the competitive tender."
For more information on our magnetic wheels, please visit our magnetic wheel page.
A new electromagnet has been added to the range of capacitor
discharge magnetisers. This new product will complement the existing
range and offers customers a greater choice of products.

Well, if the inventors of "Where is Moldova?" - the latest craze in board
games, are to be believed the answer is “Yes”.
To satisfy the demand for this up and coming game,
MSS has supplied 1,000,000 magnets. The magnets are used to
apply 4 different coloured counters to the magnetic game board,
allowing players to achieve a chain of five or more 'connecting'
countries on the map.

The high price of crude oil has seen the reopening of previously
uneconomic well heads. This has caused a demand for swarf removal
separator technology using Rare Earth permanent magnets. Neodymium
magnets, supplied by MSS are assembled into stainless
steel housings and are used to clean swarf out of the drilling mud. This helps to
insure longer pump life.
Increased demand for critical equipment has seen export growth
of our gas control voice coil motor assembles. We are pleased
to announce the appointment of a new assembly technician to
our team.
