Price Increases in Raw Material

The cost of Rare Earth magnet material such as Neodymium, Boron, Cobalt and Samarium seen dramatic increases in cost, with prices rising by 40% over the previous 4 months.

Although not particularly rare these raw materials are in short supply because of world demand, coupled with rising energy costs, means that finished magnet prices are seeing a 20-30% increase and prices can only be fixed over short periods.

Record Set in magnetic performance.

New engery levels reached with fully dense NdFeB magnets. For the first time under laboratory conditions 59.5 MGOe has been reached out of theoretical maximum of 63 MGOe

New Product for Office Magnets

High Powered rubber faced picture hooks have been added to the Magnet Sales range of office related products.

Fed up with those seminar name badges with pins? Check out our new Name Badge Fixing clasp.

For all Office related magnets see our Office magnet page.

New Product - NdFeB shallow pot magnet and counter sunk NdFeB rings

Magnet Sales have added to their extensive range of holding magnets a shallow NdFeB pot magnet, which provides a holding force of 6.5kgs from a maget that is only D16xT4.5mm. It also has a counter sunk hole on the active face to take a non-ferrous M3 screw.

For further details see our page on Shallow pot holding magnets

Also available a small NdFeB ring with counter sunk hole - see NdFeB rings

Magnets Help Formula 1 to Win

Magnet Sales and Service Ltd proud to include Renault F1 as one of their customers and congratulate them on yet another winning season.

Hot Stuff for Magnet Sales and Datapaq

With a worldwide reputation for the manufacture and supply of temperature profiling and analysis systems for use in industrial heat treating processes, Datapaq has chosen Micromag to mount thermocouples onto automotive panels.

Micromag has been specifically designed and manufactured for Datapaq to ensure precise temperature profiling.

Greece is the Word

Magnet Sales is pleased to announce the award of a major contract for its magnetic wheels. The wheels will be used on a robotic crawler designed for the non-destructive testing of ship hulls.

"We are particularly pleased with this contract." says Andy Purvis, Managing Director at Magnet Sales. " This is our first opportunity to sell into the Greek marketplace and we were delighted to win the competitive tender."

Equipment Acquisition

A new electromagnet has been added to the range of capacitor discharge magnetisers. This new product will complement the existing range and offers customers a greater choice of products.

NMRs can now be Compact and Cost-Effective

Now patented software has been developed to reduce magnet noise, it is hoped that permanent magnets can be used for NMR (nuclear magnetic resonance) applications. Currently only superconducting electro type magnets are used. However, these have to operate at – 270 degrees C, which makes them bulky & extremely expensive.

Will a Million Magnets Find Moldova ?

Well, if the inventors of the latest craze in board games Where is Moldova? are to be believed the answer is “Yes”.

To satisfy the demand for this up and coming game, Magnet has supplied 1,000,000 magnets. The magnets are used to apply 4 different coloured counters to the magnetic game board, allowing players to achieve a chain of five or more 'connecting' countries on the map.

Helping the Price of Crude Oil

The high price of crude oil has seen the reopening of previously uneconomic well heads. This has caused a demand for swarf removal separator technology using Rare Earth permanent magnets. Neodymium magnets, supplied by Magnet Sales are assembled into stainless steel housings and are used to clean down hole drilling mud to insure longer pump life.

Magnet Beads lead the Way in Biotech and Environmental Research

Magnet Sales has developed close links with world leaders of microbiology bead technology. When added to a sample, the micron sized magnetic beads bind to the desired target (cells, nucleic acids, proteins or other biomolecules). The beads respond to a magnetic field, allowing bound material to be rapidly and efficiently separated from the rest of the sample. Main areas of research are environmental and DNA testing.

Magnet handling, developed in collaboration with or for partners, allows for easy washing, separation and concentration of the target without centrifugation or columns. Excellent dispersion abilities of the beads, makes them ideal for use in automated systems and microfluidics.

New Appointment Due to Increase in Sales

Increased demand for critical equipment has seen export growth of our gas control voice coil motor assembles. We are pleased to announce the appointment of a new assembly technician to join our team.

Going Down with Magnet Sales

Magnet Sales has been awarded a contract from London Underground to build a magnetic wheel sensor mount for the new generation of electronics on the Jubilee Line.

We Want to Prove It ! Prove It !

ITV approached Magnet Sales when it was looking for a company to supply a magnet for suspending someone over a swamp in the new children’s programme Prove It. Magnet has supplied an assembly comprising a high performance rare earth holding magnet.
